Johnny O, who are the contestants tonight?

From "Inside the NetHosts Studio", here's DEAN SCUNGIO!

And from "Net Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour", meet RYAN MORRIS!

Dean, Ryan, thank you for being here. I'm sure you're both ready and anxious to play so...here's how we play:

I will give you a question where the answer is in CAPITAL LETTERS and has been "anagrammed", meaning the letters can be moved around to create the answer. For example:

First one to buzz-in with the correct answer becomes the "Check Writer" and the other becomes the "Bouncer".

By the way, the correct answer to the above question:

DAN ENRIGHT, of course.

So...without further ado, hands on buzzers, please. Here is our first question:

(DING)

Ryan?

"AROUND THE HORN"

Is it "AROUND THE HORN"?

Correct!

(applause)

All right, Ryan is the Writer and Dean is the Bouncer. Let's show you the BLANK CHECK!

 4
 9
 8
 6
 1

Ryan, this is not your check yet...but you'll have to fill it in, one digit at a time. "0" will be the ones digit every time and you'll be filling it in starting with the tens digit and working outwards.

Before you, Ryan, are five random digits. You will, on the pad in front of you, write one of those five digits as the tens digit of the check. Dean, YOUR job is to get your cyber-E.S.P. going and determine which digit Ryan has written down. If you do this, the check is yours. Otherwise, Ryan will use one of the remaining digits for the hundreds number. Fail to pick THAT number and Ryan will write the thousands digit. If you fail three times, Dean, Ryan cashes in the check.

After a check is cashed, we'll go to another buzz-in question and a new check. After seven checks are cashed, the one of you who has the most MONEY (not the most CHECKS) will advance to the Netgame Marathon Finals and will try for a bonus check which can range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

(audience applause)

All right...Ryan, write the digit. Dean, get your E.S.P. going...

(think music...then a CLICK!)

All right, Ryan has locked in his digit. Dean...which one is it?

I'll say it is the...4.

Is it 4?

 4
 9
 8
 6

No, it's the 1! Right now, the check is worth ten dollars. Ryan, write down the hundreds digit. Dean, think about it again...

(think music...then a CLICK!)

OK, Dean...what is that digit...?

Let's go for 6.

Is it 6?

 4
 9
 6

No, it's 8! Up to CY$810. OK, Ryan, write the thousands digit. If Dean can't guess it, the check is yours...

(think music...then a CLICK!)

OK, Dean...what are you thinking?

The 9 is too obvious. I'll go with 4.

If you're right, you will cash a CY$4810 check. Otherwise, it'll be either CY$9810 or CY$6810 for Ryan. What is that digit?!

(DING)

YES! Oh, man...tough break, Ryan. Dean, this check...

...is YOURS! Let's cash it in...

Still plenty of game left, Ryan...fret not.
