Hardly anyone outside of major-league gameshow nuts have heard of the show "Blank Check", a game show that lasted all of six months in 1975 and was touted as "television's first ESP game."

But Tom Hornikel must have been one of those nuts as he decided, in the dawn of netgaming, to make a version of the show himself. It was a simple game where one person had to predict what number ANOTHER person had written on a "black check" (hence the name)...though he WAS given a choice of possible numbers.

Tom didn't do the show verbatim, though. He tweaked the rules from a game with seven players to a game with two players. He threw in a concept for an ORIGINAL show he called "Celebrity Anagrams"...and "Net Blank Check" was born.

From late 1999 to the early oughts, contestants on IM had fun trying to work out anagrams and predict what number would show up. And Tom had fun coming up WITH the questions as well. It may not have had the draw power of a "Net Price Is Right" or a "Net Match Game", but it left its mark in the annuls of netgames.

Now, Tom's game turns into a Semi-Final showdown...and we'll just SEE if either host can "see" themselves to the Finals!

TONIGHT, "NETGAME MARATHON" PRESENTS "NET BLANK CHECK"!
