All right. First is the former host of "Net Price Is Right" and current "center square" on "Net Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour"...JAY LEWIS!
(Jay waves to the applauding crowd from the left-side position)
And his opponent was the master of "FastTalkers"...CHICO ALEXANDER!
(Chico waves to the applauding crowd from the right-side position; D.J. takes position between the two as Chris goes to his podium)

Jay, Chico, welcome to the show. Let's explain how this show works:
You two will be playing a best-of-five games match. The game is played just like blackjack: the object is to get closer to 21 than your opponent without going over. The TRICK is that you must answer questions in order to GET the cards. What's more, you have the opportunity to PASS the cards to your opponent.
First to three games won takes the match and advances to the Bonus Round where LOADS of cash and prizes can be won.
Oh...and one more thing: should either of you get 21 - whether in a natural blackjack or any number of cards adding up to it - you win the Net Gambit Jackpot. For the first game, said Jackpot is worth:

-...twenty-five hundred cyber-dollars!
(applause)
And, should it go un-won, another CY$2500 will be added.
Now then...the standard 52-card deck in front of D.J. has been shuffled and cut by both of you. We'll use this deck for the entire game unless we run below ten cards. If so, we'll shuffle the deck again and start all over.
Deej, please reveal the opening card for Game 1:
|
Jack of Spades.
Ah, good way to start. OK, gents, hands on buzzers...here's the first question for that Jack:
SPIDER-MAN |
Which superhero is NOT played in films by an actor who stars in the film "The Prestige"? |
WOLVERINE |
|
BATMAN |

Chico?
Chico: Spiderman
That's correct! (applause)
Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Christian Bale (Batman) played rival magicians. Tobey Maguire...nowhere to be seen.
OK, Chico, do you want to take the Jack or pass it to Jay?
Chico: I'll take it
Thought so. Deej, if you would...

That gives you ten points...so best to hope for an Ace next time. All right, from this point on, we don't reveal the next card in the deck. Here's the next question:
WORDPLAY |
Which of these short-lived gameshows was NOT hosted by Tom Kennedy? |
3rd DEGREE |
|
BODY LANGUAGE |

Chico again...
Chico: 3rd Degree
That's correct! (applause)
Chico: (Geek Moment) It was the last show hosted by the late lamented Bert Convy (/Geek Moment)
And I thought I was supposed to be "all over it" as Doug says. Take the next card or pass it, Chico?
Chico: Let's see an Ace, DJ! I'll take it!
OK, if it's an Ace, that's blackjack. That'll give you the first game and CY$2500. D.J., what is it?

Three of Spades.
Oooo, not an Ace. But...

Gives you 13. Now, if you wish to "FREEZE" at any time, just say so instead of answering the question. Here's the next question:
FOX SPORTS NET |
On what network did Frank Nicotero NOT win money on a gameshow? |
GSN |
|
LIFETIME |

Chico...
Chico: GSN
That's correct! (applause)
Frank was on "Ultimate Fan League" on FSN and "Debt" on Lifetime before hosting the syndicated "Street Smarts".
Well, Chico, you have 13. You want the next card or pass it to Jay?
Chico: That looks a little scary. I'm going to pass the card.
All right. Jay, you get your first card...which is...

Two of Diamonds.
Wasn't as bad as Chico thought...for him, anyway. For you, Jay,...

...it starts you off with two. So...next question:
PLAYSTATION 3 |
Which current-generation video gaming system was released first? |
NINTENDO Wii |
|
XBOX360 |

Jay!
Jay: Wild guess, XBOX360
That's correct! (applause)
Microsoft came out with the 360 a year before Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's Wii.
OK, Jay...take the next card or...
Jay: I'll take the mystery card!
Very well...if it's a 9 or a 10, you might regret it. What's the card, Deej?

King of Spades.
See? Has you passed, you'd've won the game. But, as the Police would say...

...it is your destiny to keep the King of Spades...giving you twelve. This next card's important...here's the next question:
JOHNNY MOSS |
Which of these World Series of Poker Main Event winners have NOT won the title three times? |
JOHNNY CHAN |
|
STU UNGER |

Jay?
Jay: Johnny Moss?
Incorrect! Chico?
Chico: Johnny Chan.
Correct! (applause)
Johnny "Rounders" Chan only won twice...for now.
What'll it be, Chico?
Chico: DJ, I think Jay needs a paint job. PASS!
Well, if it IS a face card or a 10, Jay busts and you win Game 1. What is it D.J.?

Eight of hearts.
(auidence moans)
Awww...that would've given you 21, Chico! As such...

...it gives Jay a 20! Must I ask, Jay?
Jay: Chris, drop some cubes on me, cause I'm gonna FREEZE!!

OK, Chico...it's all up to you. Either you get 21 or Jay wins. Start with this question:
KIANA |
Which of these names belongs to the first African-American Princess in Disney's history who will debut in "The Princess and the Frog"? |
BRIANNA |
|
TIANA |
Chico: Tiana.
Correct! (applause)
Had to get past Asian, Arabian, Native American, Atlantian and half-fish Princesses first.
Chico: Excuse me, I need to kick myself for a bit. (does)
Nice talent there. OK, Chico...you're hoping for an 8. Any higher and Jay wins. Any LOWER...and the game goes on. Deej...show it...

Five of diamonds.

Gives you 18...still 3 away from winning. Next question just for Chico:
CHRISTIE |
Which of these "Dead Or Alive" female characters is British? |
TINA |
|
HELENA |
Chico: Christie.
Correct! (applause)
Tina's American and Helena French.
A 2 and we go one more time. A 3 and you win. Anything else, Jay wins. D.J.....show it!

Queen of diamonds.
(foghorn SFX)
Chico has busted...Jay wins Game 1!

Don't worry, Chico; plenty of match left. We'll be back for Round 2 shortly but, first, something for those of you watching.
